Implementation of the EU Damages Directive in Central and Eastern European Countries (Chapter on Romania)
The Central and Eastern Europe (Poland, Romania, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia) still lags behind some countries in the West of the European Union – particularly the United Kingdom, Germany and The Netherlands – in terms of actions for damages produced by infringements of the competition law. There are significant efforts to overcome this gap – with academics in the front line – and the book put together by the University of Warsaw is a good description of the state of play and a helpful instrument for those who aim to recover such damages, now that the EU Damages Directive is largely implemented in the region.
